Used Cars in Lawrenceville: Risk or Value?

A common question regarding used cars in PA is this: are they an unbelievable value or a risk not worth taking? If you are a smart shopper, do your research, and are realistic in pricing, a used car is truly an excellent value, especially if they are from the last five years. And the benefits do not end at the lower price tag. Expenses such as collision insurance and taxes are lower too. The depreciation of the car's value has already occurred. Yet, buying a used car does involve a certain risk, so it is very important to find a balance between the two. To do this, here are some of the factors:

Better Reliability: used cars have become amazingly reliable in the past few years. Rust and exhaust-system problems, once common, are now no longer a major concern. As a result, buying a late-model used car has a much reduced risk, compared to the past. When properly maintained, today's vehicles should easily go well past 100,000 miles without breakdown.

End of Warranty Repairs: used cars are becoming more and more reliable. But, a used car is either close to coming off warranty or already off it. This means paying for repairs on the used car out of pocket. Depending on the vehicle, the expense of repairs would still be relatively modest considering the overall savings from buying a used vehicle.

Financing: loans for new cars typically have a lower interest rate, but the difference is often not a major concern. These two rates of a new car or used car are often within just one percentage point of each other, and the additional interest you pay on a used-car loan adds very little.

Depreciation Value: a new car has a rapid depreciation in the first few years. Models typically lose about 45 percent of their value in the first three years, compared with 25 percent over the next three. But, no all vehicles depreciate the same, and some will hold their value much longer.

Lawrenceville is a census-designated place and unincorporated area located within Lawrence Township in Mercer County, New Jersey. Lawrenceville is located roughly halfway between Princeton and Trenton. Lawrenceville is also known as the village of Lawrenceville as well as the Main Street Historic District, which was listed in the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places in 1972, one of the first registered historic districts in New Jersey. Lawrenceville was founded as Maidenhead in 1697, as part of the county of Burlington in the colony of West Jersey. In 1714, the village became a part of Hunterdon County. In 1798, the New Jersey Legislature legally incorporated the Township of Maidenhead. The name "Maidenhead" was adopted from an English town on the Thames River, about 20 miles from London.

The Colonial Supreme Court at Burlington officially confirmed the name on February 20, 1697. The Rev. Issac V. Brown, the first full-time pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville and the founder of the Academy of Maidenhead (now the Lawrenceville School), led a movement to petition the Legislature to change the town's name. The Legislature officially changed the name from Maidenhead to Lawrence on January 24, 1816, at a meeting in John Moore's Tavern. The township took its name from Captain James Lawrence, a naval hero of the War of 1812. The village was renamed Lawrenceville at the same time. In 1838, Mercer County was formed from parts of three counties, and Lawrence Township was included in the new County. The Township's boundaries and geographic relationships have remained the same since that time. During the Revolutionary War, George Washington's troops marched through Maidenhead after the Battle of Trenton and the Second Battle of Trenton chasing British troops. They met at the Battle of Princeton on 3 January 1777, just over the township line, where the Princeton Battlefield State Park now stands.
